Request for Proposals
The municipality has the following buildings available for a summer-season tenancy in 2025, and potentially in future years:
Victoria Welcome Centre
Proposals are due by November 30, to be submitted using the form at the end of the document linked below, by email to victoriamunicipalitypei@gmail.com, or on paper to the municipal office at 730 Victoria Rd (during office hours, or in the black mailbox by the door).
Municipal staff are happy to answer questions about the property, and applicants are welcome to schedule a site visit. Please call 902 658 2541.
In addition to this public notice (sent by email and displayed on the municipal noticeboard at 730 Victoria Rd), tenants from the past year will be directly notified and invited to submit proposals.
Proposals received will be considered by the December meeting of Council, who will rank the applications received in order of preference, attaching conditions if required, and will give instructions to the CAO to draw up a lease agreement with the winning proponent.
Criteria
Council will assess proposals along each of the following dimensions, before making a decision.
Contribution to financial sustainability of the property
Desired: that the proposed annual rent meets or exceeds the cost to the municipality to own and maintain the building, or meets a standard rental rate for similar commercial buildings. The tenant’s proposed contribution to general maintenance and upkeep of the building will also be considered.Compliance with Development Bylaws & Official Plan
Benefits and Impacts for Victoria’s community life - environmental, social and economic, and the connection to Victoria’s unique history, community and culture.
The ability to maintain the services of the Welcome Centre and the centrally located public washrooms from June 2, 2025 to September 1, 2025, inclusive.
