January 2025 Municipal Update - Victoria-by-the-Sea
Happy new year, Victoria! As we look forward to 2025, I am filled with hope and optimism. We have some exciting projects and initiatives on the horizon that will continue to make Victoria a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous place to call home. I can’t wait to see what unfolds.
For this month’s newsletter, I will take this opportunity to reiterate the opening remarks I made at our January regular council meeting.

December 2024 Municipal Update - Victoria-by-the-Sea
As we approach this joyous time of year, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to each of you. The holiday season is a time for reflection, togetherness, and celebration, and I am proud to serve as your mayor.
This year, we’ve come together to face challenges and celebrate successes, and I am continually inspired by the spirit of unity and kindness that defines our village.
This December also marks the midpoint for this council’s four-year term. I would like to take this opportunity to list some of the significant successes we have had as a municipality:

November 25 2024 Municipal Update - Victoria-by-the-Sea
I’d like to start by congratulating Brenda Boudreau and all the volunteers who arranged the Remembrance Day service at the Victoria Playhouse. As in previous years, it was very well attended and appreciated by all those who attended. Given the inclement weather, I think participants appreciated the service being held indoors and out of the rain.
I also want to acknowledge the events at Island Chocolates this month. I’m sure many folks in the community and beyond appreciate the opportunity to warm up and meet with friends over good hot chocolate and local entertainment. I would like to congratulate those involved in putting on these events.

CHANGE OF DATE FOR REGULAR NOVEMBER COUNCIL MEETING
At the November 7th Special Council meeting, council members considered a request to change the date of the scheduled council meeting on November 12th. Council members decided to change the date of this meeting to November 18th at the regular time of 6:30 pm.
AMAR SEAFOOD PROJECT
In April 2024, the Municipal Office received an application from Amar Seafood to rezone the property they own across the road (PID #207290) from their current facility and to build another facility on that property. The Planning Board and Council have been working with CAO Yves Dallaire to process the application. At a Special Council meeting held on November 7th, 2024 Council members asked CAO Dallaire to provide the public with an update on where the Municipality is with the Amar application process and provide a synopsis of the next steps that will be taken. Council members felt that it would be beneficial for the public to understand what is happening at this time and what may be happening in the near future.

October 2024 Municipal Update - Victoria-by-the-Sea
I hope everyone has had the opportunity lately to enjoy the extended warm weather we have been getting lately. It looks very much like it is coming to an end later this week. On a personal note, Leslie-Ann and I have been in Ottawa for the last week or so for medical tests etc. As we all know, there are limited health services provided by our provincial government and it is sometimes necessary to go out of province to get the care we need. For anyone looking for us, we plan to be back in PEI before the end of the month.
